When you use Inburgering Coach, we may collect the following information:

• Account information: your name and email address when you sign in via Google or Apple.
• Usage data: practice history, progress, and engagement within the app.
• Written exercise submissions: text you write in writing exercises.
• Speaking recordings: audio you record during speaking exercises.
• Vocabulary words: words you look up or save for translation.
• Device information: browser type, operating system, and general usage analytics.
• Payment information: purchase details processed by our payment provider (we do not store your credit card number).

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the application.
• Evaluate your writing and speaking submissions using AI.
• Transcribe your speaking recordings and generate audio for practice exercises.
• Translate vocabulary words between Dutch and English.
• Track your practice progress and provide personalized feedback.
• Process payments for premium features.
• Send transactional emails (e.g. coach notes, progress updates) and occasional marketing emails.
• Monitor errors and improve application stability.
• Measure advertising effectiveness on our marketing site.
• Improve our services and user experience through analytics.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

• Clerk — authentication via Google and Apple sign-in. Privacy Policy
• Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookieless website analytics. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. Privacy Policy
• PostHog — product analytics, usage tracking, and session replay. Session replay records how you interact with the app and may capture text you type and personal information shown on your screen, such as your name or email. Data is processed on PostHog's EU servers. Uses cookies and local storage for session tracking. Privacy Policy
• Sentry — error monitoring, crash reporting, and performance tracking. Data is processed on Sentry's German (EU) servers. Privacy Policy
• Third-party AI providers (text) — we use third-party AI services to evaluate your written answers, check your Dutch grammar, translate vocabulary you look up, and power the AI coach and study notes. Your written answers, coach messages, and looked-up words are sent to these providers to generate your feedback.
• Third-party AI providers (speech) — we use third-party AI services to transcribe and evaluate your speaking recordings and to score your pronunciation. Your speaking recordings are sent to these providers for processing. We also use a text-to-speech service to generate the audio you hear in exercises; this sends only our exercise text, not your personal data.
• Mollie — payment processing for web purchases. Mollie B.V. (Keizersgracht 126, 1015 CW Amsterdam, the Netherlands) is a licensed Dutch payment institution. You enter your card or bank details on Mollie's own secure page, not on ours — we never see or store your full card number or bank credentials. From a completed payment we receive back only a payment identifier, the status, the amount, the payment method, and the small piece of information we attach to link the payment to your account, which we store in redacted form. Mollie is an independent controller for the payment data it processes. Privacy Policy
• Resend — transactional and marketing email delivery. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in each email. Privacy Policy
• Expo — push notification delivery. If you enable notifications, they are relayed through Expo to Apple (APNs) or Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) to reach your device. Privacy Policy
• Google Ads — conversion tracking on our marketing website to measure advertising effectiveness. Privacy Policy

Cookies and Local Storage

Our application and website use cookies and local storage for the following purposes:

• PostHog — cookies and local storage for analytics and session replay.
• Clerk — cookies for maintaining your authentication session.
• Google Ads — cookies for conversion tracking (marketing website only).
• Plausible — does not use cookies or local storage.

Data Processing Locations

Your data may be processed in the following locations depending on the service:

• European Union — Mollie (payments, the Netherlands), PostHog (analytics), Plausible (website analytics), Sentry (error monitoring, Germany)
• United States — Resend (email), Expo (push notifications), Google Ads (conversion tracking), Clerk (authentication)
• United States and European Union — our third-party AI providers, for text and speech processing (evaluation, transcription, translation, pronunciation scoring, and audio generation)

Data Retention

• Account data is kept for as long as your account is active.
• You can delete your account at any time via the app settings, which removes your personal data.
• Anonymized analytics data may be retained after account deletion.
• Payment records are retained as required by applicable tax and accounting laws.
• Unsubscribe requests for marketing emails are honored immediately.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
